Abstract

-Abstract-
In the regeneration process of periodontal tissues after replantation of teeth, activity of
periodontal ligament fibroblasts is very important. Among growth factors, involved in
functions such as mitogenic, chemotactic and protein synthesis activity, particulary
collagen, of these PDL fibroblasts, used of bFGF, PDGF-AB, EGF and compared with
each effects.
First, extraction of rat upper 1st molar, replantation of teeth coated growth factors,
and after certain period, obtained teeth and periodontal tissues, treated tissues(fixation,
decalcification, dehydration), observed with light microscope, immunohistochemical
staining and SEM.
The results as follows; In the PDGF-AB coated group, repair was very rapidly
progressed, resorption of root was not seen, fibronectin was strongly stained along
attachement area of regenerated PDL, in the SEM observation, PDL fibers were inserted
to root surface. In the control group, repair was slightly slower than PDGF-AB coated
group, fibronectin was strongly stained along attachment area of regenerated PDL. In
the EGF and bFGF coated group, repair was slower than the control or PDGF coated
group, resorption of root was seen in the SEM, particularly fibronectin was strongly
stained surrounded newly formed capillaries at the root apex in the FGF coated group,
but fibronectin was not stained anywhere in the EGF coated group. Reattachment was
not progressed, even oral epithelium was descending downward to root apex.
According to these results, we could understand the fact that repair was greatest
rapid in the PDGF-AB coated group.
